Extension of Retirement Visa - FIJI Passport

Featured Replies

Friend of mine holding FIJI Passport came to Thailand last year and Bangkok Immigration gave him one year retirement visa.

He moved to Pattaya seven months back, is doing 90days reporting here at Jomtien needs his extension for another year

when his retirement extension expires in early October but Jomtein  Immigration says they cannot give him extension

and he must go to Bangkok Immigration for extension ? Do not understand why when he has changed address, 90 days report is

filled here ? Will Bangkok  Immigration give extension with Pattaya Address. Any advice, suggestion please. Many Thanks in advance.

There is no reason for Jomtien not to do his extension.

Bangkok will not do the extension unless he has a address for there.

If he used agent and Jomtien immigration has noticed his extension was done faster than normal that could be the reason they are telling him to do it in Bangkok.

No. He would need a Bangkok address.

Jomtien should do the extension. It's effectively a brand new application each year, and as long as he has a Pattaya address they have no reason not to do it.

Looks to me like the OP's Fijian pal didn't bother to trot along to Jomtien clutching completed TM28 and TM30 forms as soon as he had moved from Bangkok to Pattaya 7 months ago. If so, that would explain why they are now insisting that he goes to Chaengwattana for his next retirement extension (although I do find it surprising that he has been able to file his 90-day reports at Jomtien since his move to Pattaya in these circumstances).

So what he now needs to do ASAP (if he hasn't already done so) is to complete a TM28 change of address form and get his housemaster to complete a TM30 form, then take both along to Jomtien. He may also need to brace himeself for a possible fine of around 1,600 THB on account of a failure to comply with Jomtien's over-zealous enforcement of the TM30 requirement, as documented in a number of threads on here, before now. That said, though, it would also appear from recent reports that Jomtien don't enforce the TM30 requirement quite so rigorously in the case of retirees - although whether they would be prepared to adopt a relaxed attitude towards a retiree who had recently moved to their patch (as distinct from one who had temporarily absented themselves from their Pattayan address as a result of e.g. a trip abroad) must be open to question.

What makes you think that. This from the OP.
