House Insurance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just about to renew my house insurance and have had a ridiculous quote from AXA for 27,000 THB.  I did want to include earthquake and flood damage.  Anyone know of any good companies that would actually pay up.  I tried to claim on my current insurance for a broken window only 7000 THB with my currant insurance but they did not pay out hence the change.  They were costing me 13,000 THB a year!

Any help advice welcome

Thanks in advance

Joe

OP we use MSIG, i can recommend them, we were only insured with them for 5 days, had a storm claimed, nobody came, they accepted my photos as proof of damage, claim paid no problems what so ever.

I've been with them for nearly 4 years. Not had to claim yet, but the service and price have been good. I don't know if he's still there, but there was a helpful English chap in the head office last time I called.

Go to an agent and ask them for a number of comparable policies to get an idea of costs. It is a bit difficult to offer an opinion on the premiums you mention without an idea of coverage levels.

One thing I do know is that since the floods of 2011 most insurance cos. will essentially not cover you for flood damage unless caused by storm/windstorm. That may be the reason for your very high premium - either that or you have every option on the policy including named valuables to a high value.
