Can someone recommend a hospital in Bangkok  with the best possible dermatologist for a skin scrape test or if necessary a skin biopsy. I have previously only (for other health problems) used Samitivej Sukhumvit in Bangkok and have been very satisfied with their services but don't know if Samitiivej and their dermatologist are the correct choice of many. I have tried three other hospitals here upcountry but given up because it seems they are more into cosmetic dermatology.

Thanks

Thanks Sheryl.

Will check with Bumrungrad. Btw, I also found the subject "skin biopsy" in a tread here on Tv from last year where a Dr. Anna, dermatologist at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is recommended. Is that recommendation still valid and if so who of them should I choose?

Thanks again.

I don't know but had recently some blood tests and was low on WBC and had anemia so maybe its connected. Its rashes not all over the body but shoulders, back some on my lower arms which actually looks like bites and unable to sleep well due to this thing and have had it for a few months now.

Btw, just got the message from Bangkok Hospital Pattaya that doctor Anna not is available before mid month. So will make an appointment with Bumrungrad.

Total WBC 3.88L

Red Blood cells: 3.74L

Hemoglobin (HB):  11.9 L

Hematocrit (HCT): 34.6 L

On the paper it not seems very low from normal for me! However due to different medical blood quantity measurement standard in Thailand than my home country I don't know how the above result compare with what they see as normal range back home. I have not got measured my body temperature but don't think I have fever, but then again feel more cold in some situations I usually shouldn't and feel a bit less of energy.

If you are male then indeed you are anemic and the cause needs to be ascertained. The WBC is on the low side but not outrageously.

If you are female it is only borderline anemia.

These lab results need  more investigation to find out what is going on. I suggest you see one of these hematologists while you are at Bumrungrad:

Have you had a tick bite in the recent past?

Thanks Sheryl. Amazing how much you can be helpful with even only through a online forum. Btw, I'm male. Tick bite...is that common in Thailand? I was a month in Europe back in June/July where we have plenty of them in the summer and was walking /jogging in the forest now and then but not trekking / camping outdoors but lived a bit simple in a cottage on a farm belonging to relatives and had a bite there one night on my hand but it did not look as a tick bite so I did not think so much about it that time.

Will book up with Bumrungrad end of week.

Thanks again.

Ask them to test for Lyme disease just in case.

If the rash and anemia/slightly low WBC are related there vould be an infectious or autoimmune cause but start with one of the hematologists I mentioned, they are both board certified in internal medecine as well as heme.
