PMs Office Minister is helping debt-ridden farmers

The Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Thirapat Serirangsan, and his entourage today visited Lampang province to meet with a network of debt-ridden farmers at Yonok University.

Dr. Thirapat said the government is working seriously to solve the farmers’ debt problems, and the Cabinet has also approved the proposal to postpone their debt cases with the financial institutes at the moment. He said adjustment is being made in the state sector in order to solve their debts in the long run, and a national committee has been set up to expedite the solving process and acknowledge their problems.

The Prime Minister’s Office Minister said the government is also looking into the causes of the farmers’ debts. The government has developed a project to promote the people’s well-being and sufficiency economy. The project will attempt to eliminate debts and poverty while preserving natural resources and environment.

Dr. Thirapat has also asked the local officials to aid the farmers in their respective areas during the initial stage, and the government will help support them in the future, if necessary.
