Dentists for Crown. Bangkok dental hospital?

Had some work done at bangkok dental hospital end of last year. Amazing service and as I'd heard top notch all around.

They did a head scan type thing (not normal xray) and the specialist looked at the imagery and saw a crown that I got back in 1998. She said it was not looking good. Trust her. She said could get infected.

Thing is at 25000 for a new crown I baulked a little.

Cheaper than back home. But thoughts. Anyone else got prices of top quality dentists for crown? Else I'll just go with them since am. Sure they'll do a proper job. Also they can make the mould and fit all in an hour or so wait.

Many thanks

My dentist is Dr. Pokpong Amornvit, who is located at THE S  Clinic, Soi Suanplu 8, off of Sathorn Road phone 02-287-4922. Very reasonable priced in a pleasant and clean atmosphere. Very good English including the receptionist with parking just a few steps from the clinic entrance if needed. I have been going there for six years and had great results every time.

I  had a zirconia crown done at The S Clinic for 14,000 baht total, that was a while back and could be slightly higher now depending on the work involved in your particular situation. I was very satisfied with the whole procedure. I guarantee you won't be disappointed with Dr. Pokpong's work, he is a perfectionist.

If you have time to travel to Chanthaburi (3.5hrs from bkk) I would highly recommend 'Dr Air Dental'. She has a new clinic that is high tech and looks like something you might see in Europe. They have a  3D Xray machine from Germany- same that your talking about above. Her Crowns range from 8000 upwards depending on materials. 15,000 is the highest quality crown. She did a crown on me and I was extremely happy with  the result.

Your paying 25,000 at bkk hospital bc of the name and the fact that its a private hospital. The dentist that is doing it probably also works at private clinics and does the same job elsewhere for 15,000.

cheers and good luck

Quality dental work is not that cheap in Thailand and suspect 25k is probably a fair price for top places.  I paid 24,400 for a replacement high grade porcelain covered gold last month at Vejthani Hospital Dentalis.  I have sought out cheap in the past - but do not recommend - sterile instruments are to be desired.  But outside of Bangkok indeed prices will likely be lower if you can find a good dentist.

I had 2x high quality gold crowns installed last year for 60,000 baht (total for both crowns) at BIDC Ratchadaa. This price included 5,000 baht CT scan and 1,200 baht for build up and pins. Service and equipment was totally professional and spot on. I've had a porcelain crown in the past which cracked and rotted out my tooth so I didn't want to compromise on crown quality or professionalism. I had cheaper quotes elsewhere, but BIDC ticked all of the boxes. The clinic/ dental hospital is immaculate.

I was quoted $1300 AU plus extras at my local dentist in Melbourne for a porcelain crown.

  • 2 weeks later...

I paid about 10K / ceramic crown at the Bangkok dental hospital about like 10 years ago.

But my teeth didn't required a lot of work on it.

Can't believe they would charge you 25K for this now, or your teeth must in real bad shape and requiring hours and hours of works before.

Dental, like medical, costs have increased a great deal in the last decade and it also makes a big difference in the type of crown installed (low grade or no gold is much cheaper than high grade gold) and if RCT/PIN is required that will be more thousands of baht.

Yep but full ceramic tooth still cost around 10K.

I wonder what kind of crown they've tried to sell him for 25K, i guess PFM's one.
