FETCO: Sept Investor Confidence Index increases

 

 

BANGKOK, 11 September 2018, (NNT) - According to the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO), the Thai Investor Confidence Index in September increased due to the nation’s continuous economic growth, despite global economic setbacks. 

FETCO Chairman Paiboon Narintarangkul reported that the Investor Confidence Index for this month, which reflects opinions of investors on business perspectives in Thailand over the next three months, stands at 109.45. September's index rose 1.24% for the third consecutive month. 

He said the decent performance of registered companies and the confidence in the nation’s economic growth have contributed to the positive figure. The FETCO Chairman said investors are currently concerned about the trade dispute between the U.S. and its partners, sending shock waves to various currencies.

 

He said they are particularly worried that the world economy would further slow down, if the dispute escalates. Chairman Paiboon also said investors are interested in whether or not the U.S. Federal Reserve would adjust the benchmark rate, a move that is widely speculated before this year's end. 

According to the survey, media and printing businesses are still the unpopular choice among investors. 

Survey takers mostly shared a similar expectation that the local Monetary Policy Committee would maintain the interest rate at 1.5% per annum, in order to accommodate economic growth and keep the inflation rate low.
