Teacher In Phuket - Need Police Check?

Featured Replies

I will be going to Vientiene in a couple of weeks to get myNon Imm B Type Visa(Teacher). I would like to know about these new police checks.

I was living and teaching in Chiang Mai for seven months. Left the job and my WP and previous Non Imm B Type got cancelled. I have now been living in Phuket for three months - on my third VOA. I have just secured a new teaching position.

My questions are:

1 - Do I get a police check from here in Phuket or Chiang Mai?

2 - Do I need one from my home country?

3 - What does the letter from the police have to say?

4 - Who has to do it - The chief of police or any regular policeman?

5 - Has anyone here been to get a Non Imm B Type visa recently.

Cheers.

Try with an appropriate title, that might catch someones attention.

Where are you from mate?

Theres a lot, (maybe too much) info on the forum.

In answer to your questions

1. Neither

2. Yes

3. It is a standard letter so what it says is in standard form. Hopefully it will say something like, "This person is not known to the Police." If you're from the UK, there is a link on the UK embassy website in Bangkok where you can download the forms. However it will take up to and including 40 (forty) days.

4. It has to be done by Constable Reginald Smethwick.

Nah - i'm joking. Its done by scotland yard who probably have to do thousands per day.

Have a look here

5. I would have thought loads. Have a look on this forum.

Following Phil Conners' advice, I changed the title. rayabk, it would help to know your nationality, and perhaps where you've gotten a job offer. The immigration police in Phuket have made news lately (or was it Pattaya? same difference?), so the situation there might be tougher.

Nobody knows. With diligent effort, you could get a police check from your home country, if you still have a home country, or an adopted one. Not that an official here would know for sure if you got the document at the floating market in Bangsuehard.
