Featured Replies

One of these Russian 'tourists' is now named as Anatoli Tsepiga. A colonel of Russian army's GRU unit.

Aren't the Russian news so trustworthy? Perhaps there is a good reason why some of us don't want the Russian way of telling lies to become reality in the western world.

We have seen and experienced Russian lies for years. This is just one example of these lies.

Worth to learn a lesson.

  • Yes it was all just coincidence even the traces of novichock found in the very same hotel room they stayed in amazing ?

  • I quite like Salisbury, but I find it hard to believe that two men would fly all the way from Moscow to visit it for an hour or so!

  • They say they left Salisbury because of the slush (wet snow). Russians!

Investigative group: Spy poisoning suspect is GRU colonel

MOSCOW — The investigative group Bellingcat says it has identified one of the two suspects in the poisoning of an ex-Russian spy as a highly-decorated colonel of the Russian military intelligence agency GRU.

Bellingcat said Wednesday that the suspect, whose passport name was Ruslan Boshirov, is in fact Col. Anatoliy Chepiga.

Britain has charged him and another suspect, Alexander Petrov, with trying to kill Russian ex-spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter with the Soviet-designed nerve agent Novichok in the city of Salisbury on March 4.

One of the two suspects in the Salisbury novichok poisoning has been identified as a highly decorated officer in Russia’s military intelligence service (GRU).

The online investigative sites Bellingcat and the Insider found info  identifying one of the two suspects – previously named as Ruslan Boshirov – as Col Anatoliy Chepiga, a special forces veteran.

British investigators also believe one of the pair is Chepiga, the Guardian understands.

And I thought they were two ordinary tourists,

There was some speculation that this was a private matter organized by Russian gangsters in Spain and entirely extra-governmental. I guess this puts paid to that hypotheses. And the colonel who was identified has received Russia's highest military award. So it seems really unlikely that this operation happened without Putin's blessing.

My guess is British and other intelligence agencies have known their true identity for a long time.

Bet they even know who their line managers are, the Russian spy agencies are very leaky with double agents working for the UK, USA and many other countries.

One notable double agent was Oleg Antonovich Gordievsky.
