A man broadcast a clip of him announcing his suicide on Facebook on Thursday and killed himself just minutes before rescuers got to him.

Police and rescuers rushed to a two-storey house at a housing estate in Surat Thani’s Muang district after learning that a man living there might commit suicide.

However, upon arrival they found the doors and windows locked, and as they yelled for the house owner to come out, they heard a gunshot.

When they broke into the house, they found Patcharapon Ekpathomsak, 47, on the floor with a gunshot wound to his head.

He was dressed in biker gear and even wore gloves. In his left hand there was a fabric doll, with a note reading: “Don’t hold any funeral. Just burn my body and throw my gun in water”.

Neighbours said Patcharapon was reserved and did not live in this house.

His friends and Netizens noticed that Patcharapon might have been contemplating suicide, because he looked very grim when he went live on Facebook earlier in the day.

Police have now identified Patcharapon as the owner of Alvaro Diving Co Ltd and Pirate Bar on Koh Tao. It is believed that family problems led to him killing himself.

SURAT THANI — Investigators ruled a Koh Tao businessman’s death as suicide by gunshot, police said Friday.

Pattarapol Ekpathomsak, who owned a diving school and several restaurants on the tourist island, shot himself during a Facebook live steam because of “personal issues,” according to Surat Thani city police chief Sirichai Songwasin.

It is good that he left the message. We hear of too many balcony divers that are ruled as suicide, even though there is no note. We (TVF) do not have to spend pages sleuthing.

The bike helmet is a bit of a mystery though.

He thought it might contain the mess and make things a bit easier for whoever had to clean up?

Of course it would be nearly impossible for someone to find out his password or post something on his Facebook page that was already opened, prior to committing this offense. Therefore no investigation is required. The RTP has some of the smartest and brilliant investigators found anywhere. Many are trained in Scotland Yard. They know a crime when they see one. No need to question this one. And besides as many of us know Koh Tao does not have a crime problem and the five families there do not have any influence or wealth.
