The Rights and Liberties Protection Department has been granted an additional Bt210 million from the central fund on top of its 2018 budget of Bt300 million.

Pitikarn Sitthidej, director-general of the department, said the 2018 budget allocation has been used up paying compensations to crime and false justice victims.

From October 2017, the start of the 2018 fiscal year, to May 3, 2018, the department paid Bt294.08 million to 5,611 crime victims and Bt5.918 million to 31 false justice victims who were later proved to be innocent.

She said the additional Bt210 million would be paid to the remaining victims within September, the end of the 2018 fiscal year.

That's not enough to pay the Thai population of 69 million for their victimization since 2014.

Now this is what I call a real "big joke". It's almost as funny as running a Department to Guarantee and Protect Eternal Life.

Yeah..

All these numerous and trivially placed departments and ministries have a catatonic Big Brotherish feel about them without real application.

Manufactured and piled bureaucracy, as it sounds nice.
