Student actor slams into fellow motorcyclist, both killed

Two teenage motorcyclists, one of them a film actor, were killed early Tuesday morning when they collided head-on on Bangkok’s Memorial Bridge.

 

Police said Thon Buri Rajabhat University freshman Thitiwat Theeraparp, 19, who appeared in the movie “Luang Phi Jazz 4G”, swerved to avoid hitting a bus and collided with an oncoming motorcycle driven by an 18-year-old man identified only by the first name Thanawat.

 

Pak Khlong San police led by deputy superintendent Pol Lt Colonel Danchai Toon-ong were on the scene soon after 3am.

Thanawat’s bike was lodged under the front wheel of the Route 82 bus that Thitiwat had served to avoid.

 

Eyewitnesses said seen Thitiwat and four or five other motorcyclists gathered on the bridge. The actor had sped off towards the Thon Buri side of the Chao Phraya River with his front wheel airborne when the accident occurred.

 

Danchai said no charges had been filed pending further investigation, including an interview with bus driver Boonmee Insap, 53.

 

Thitiwat earned money selling “big bikes” of the type he was driving – motorcycles optimised for speed and acceleration – via a Facebook page that has 2,000 followers.

Perhaps he wasn't one of the 70 % who wears an amulet. Can't help bad luck, his number was up. Being a two baht lair trying to drive a souped up bike at 3 am didn't help his chances.

Always wondered what Thais classified as a "big bike.?  Now I have an inkling as here it is mentioned they consider such as a machine that has been improved to enhance performance.  Therefore, according to the above-noted definition, even a 50 cc bike can become a "big bike."  In the west, it is about the size of the engine.

Tragic! Now who was driving on the wrong side of the road? Yes, it matters. Am sick of this, riding now in Vietnam where cars and trucks just honk & flash their lights. Then it's get outta my way, I'm in your lane to overtake. Or - hello graveyard.

 

Cars on highways, bikes, hordes of bikes riding on the wrong side with impunity.

 

Enough of this! There was no need to ride on the wrong side of a busy road!

head on collision means, driving it on the wrong side of the road. Not acceptable behaviour, sorry.

How many of his "followers" are literally going to "follow" him to their own deaths by motorbike?

 

If one isn't driving carefully enough to see a bus in advance and to be able to safely avoid hitting it......
