WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A woman who has accused President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of sexual assault decades ago wants her allegations to be investigated by the FBI before she appears at a U.S. Senate hearing, one of her lawyers said on Tuesday.

Christine Blasey Ford, a university professor in California, has accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in 1982 when they were both high school students, allegations Kavanaugh has called "completely false."

The Senate Judiciary Committee, which is overseeing the nomination, had called a hearing for Monday to look into the allegations.

"Nothing of substance and nothing legitimate can happen by Monday," Lisa Banks, an attorney for Ford, told CNN.

Drag Mark Judge (the witness to the events) in for questioning under oath.

Judge has already stated publicly he does not know her or anything about what she is claiming. What do you want to do "water board" him until he gives the answer the Libs want?

Interesting thought; I’ve heard the US is pretty good at that.

Not so much anymore, but with the Trump hatred you have, I am sure you would not have a problem with torturing American citizen's, at least those associated with Trump. Sick.

Yes, bypassing due process of an FBI investigation first is exactly what the Republicans want. That way Dr. Ford can be grilled by 11 angry white men bent on breaking her down and blaming the victim for having come forward.

Oh, Anita Hill's claim was first investigated by the FBI before she testified to the Senate. Why can't Dr. Ford get the same treatment?

Christine Blasey Ford Wants The Same Thing Anita Hill Got, An F.B.I. Investigation Into Her Claims

Quote

The F.B.I. investigated EXACTLY this sort of thing when Anita Hill alleged she was sexually harassed by Clarence Thomas. George H.W. Bush requested that the F.B.I. look into her claims, and they did.

As far as I understand the FBI has fully vetted Kavanaugh for this nomination as well as a previous nomination, not to mention a White House staff job.

Do you really think it is the duty of the FBI to investigate every unsubstantiated sexual assault claim made? Especially those that were unreported to police or anyone else 36 years years prior? How would they investigate that exactly if they were so inclined to do so?

The FBI investigating alleged crimes?  (Clutches pearls) "Oh the deepstate horror!!!"

She is accusing somebody of sexual assault, of course it should be investigated by the proper authorities. And a senate commission is not the proper authorities. I don't see how any reasonable thinking person can dispute that.

That's funny. You are okay with the Senate giving Dr. Ford time in front of them yet not okay with the FBI investigating further. And you completely ignore the fact that Anita Hill's claim was investigated by the FBI first. Typical pick and choose due process that Republicans are now known for.

Shame she didnt report it in 1982 when it allegedly happened.

Hasn't bothered her for nearly 40 years!

The Hill case was investigated by the FBI because President Bush directed them to.

Yes, if somebody accuses another of something the burden of proof is not on the one being accused and certainly not somebody the accuser says is a witness.

Judge has already stated he has no knowledge of what Ford is talking about.  Why should he waste his time, energy and money to go testify to that fact, and nobody can force him to do it.

I would suggest you Trump haters brush up on American law, what Due Process is.  "Never Trump" is not a legal statute one can apply when their but hurts. Sorry.

FBI has no jurisdiction. Sexual assaults isn't a federal crime.
State police need to investigate and that supposedly happened in the state of Maryland.

It's just obstructing the nomination for political reasons.

They tried this on Roy Moore and it failed.

It obviously has, or how do you think, her psychiatrist got to write it down in his notes?

Mindreading?

Actually, 30 years, as she reported it to her therapist in 2012.  There are a number of reasons women don't report sexual assaults, particularly when they aren't interested in pursuing a criminal case.

This matter should be referred to the FBI.  Although Kavanaugh has been through 6 background checks, this issue has never been investigated, and it makes more sense to question relevant witnesses (Mark Judge, and Ford's classmates) in an FBI interrogation setting, rather than through the politicized Senate Judiciary Committee.

All it takes for the FBI to start the investigation is a request from Trump.  But Trump lied and said the FBI isn't interested in investigating this matter.  It would take a few weeks to do the investigation.

It will be hard to determine if the allegations made by Ford are truthful.  I am more concerned about Kavanaugh's response, particularly in light of his friend Mark Judge's revelations and refusal to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee.  Kavanaugh has not been truthful or forthright in dealing with many questions, and his response to this allegation follows that pattern.  The least he can do is say that he often went to parties while at Georgetown Prep at which he drank, so he just doesn't recall this particular incident.  Claiming that he never went to this particular party just doesn't ring true.

OK - so the "anonymous source" didn't work.

Then it looked like the "she's come out in public as her civic duty" didn't work

So now  "FBI must investigate" is the tack - which is obviously just an attempt to delay his appointment till after the mid-terms.

What she actually needs to do is report the crime to the police in Maryland.  The details of which are:

- I was at a party, don't know the date, don't know the time, don't know how I got there. At that party, I was attacked by a very famous man who was with another man - both of whom I remember clearly.

At that point, the police can interview Kavanaugh. "Sir - can you remember where you where on, errrrr.... like every day - because we don't know when the alleged crime occurred and there's no evidence it did occur."

The woman has no right to demand an FBI investigation. As has been mentioned, no-one has been accused of a federal offence. She has a choice

1 - Testify as requested

2 - Report the issue to the police

If the FBI thought there was a case, then instead of simply filing the letter they were sent, they should send it to the Maryland police. You know - that letter, which was their first attempt to detail Kavanaugh appointment.

So what's next if the FBI say "not our duristiction" - what other delaying tactic will they try.

She sure is stupid for a college professor.  FBI investigates crimes. She has no proof statue of limitations has passed and it never happened in the eyes of the law.

What she wishes for and what will actually take place might be disappointing to her.

Repeating Trump's lies doesn't make it true...

[The FBI’s initial background investigation into Kavanaugh was completed before Christine Blasey Ford came forward with the allegation.]

[Bloomberg News: The FBI did not tell Trump or anyone else at the White House that the bureau doesn’t want to be involved in an investigation of allegations against Kavanaugh, according to a person familiar with the matter.]

I didn't use anyone's words.

It's a state crime. Not federal.

She needs to file the complaint in Maryland.

It's as simple as that if she wants justice.

Call it a conspiracy theory: Dr Ford was probably already infested by leftist thoughts as she studied at several universities in the US. She was already teaching students at the age of 21. In her field of interest, I think that is way to young. Wheel barrow? She is an elitist after all.

Here comes the conspiracy. Early in life she has been giving opportunities for which she 'may' have to pay back later on in life. That's how it goes in those circles. Now is the time to use this democrat pumped up anti Trump cell to be woken up and tell a typical leftist stupid badly staged story about the enemy, based on peanuts.

Why fcol would this woman, let's assume intelligent person, lent herself for this idiocy? Is she intelligent enough to understand that if this is screwed up she's done for as well?

I thought this was more for hookers.

Okay, rugby time, build a pile on top of me.

When I whined I got spanked, isn't it time the Dem/Libs realized they lost?
