Visa runs.

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me whether visa runs are still legal. I'm looking at my options should I need to make a visa run to either Laos or Cambodia.

No visa run is illegal.

What do you mean by visa run?

Do mean going to a embassy or consulate to apply for a visa?

Or a border run to get an entry from a valid visa or a visa exempt entry?

The old fashioned border run is what I refer to.

Visa runs are legal, but are limited to 2, by land, per calendar year.

With the latest information provided by ewc270956 I believe that he is referring to a departure from Thailand on a land border, followed by entry into a neighbouring country and a subsequent visa-exempt entry into Thailand on a land border on the same day.

Current immigration rules limit entries under the visa-exemption scheme on land borders to two entries per calendar year, regardless of the time spent outside Thailand between departure and new entry.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

OK Maestro, thanks for the info. I may need to do just that, as the 400k 2-months window is quickly approaching, and I'm having to return to the UK this weekend due to a death in the family.

If you explain your situation in more detail we will be able to better advise.
