Watch out Thailand. Japan is stealing our tourists

Japan has now overtaken Thailand as Chinese vacationers’ top choice for the 2018 Chinese Golden Week holiday. This according to Ctrip.com, one of the biggest travel websites in China.

This is the first time Thailand has lost its top destination status to Japan during the holiday season  which expect at least 7 million Chinese travel abroad for the week-long break.

“The number of Chinese vacationers expected to make an overseas trip during this year’s Golden Week rises from 6 million recorded during the same period last year,” said the website.

Good news.

Good

I bet the number of Chinese tourists killed in any vehicle collisions, marine related drownings, etc, will be virtually zero too.

As for being ripped off by Japanese immigration - not a missed punch in sight caused by anything.

Chinese have seen the light, smart people they are....

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Surprising in a way because many Chinese still hate Japan for the war atrocities. ergo. Thailand must really have dropped the ball.

Prefering to risk a Japan Earthquake and Tsunami than a thai boat and Thai immigration - probaby their insurance is lower !

DPM Gen Prawatch has apologised and grovelled to the Chinese, that will bring them back in droves!

It's one thing killing the enemy in time of war, it's totally another killing tourists on holiday!

Good luck dear Japanese.

I was thinking the same thing.

sorry about all the drama, please come back we'll change !!!

Come back here, you crazy tourists. Roll-up, roll-up and spend your billions in the Land of Smiles, where, unlike Japan, there's more miles of cheap sex than you can shake a stick at, the most committed taxi service in the world and, best of all, no earthquakes, tsunamis or typhoons . . . well, not this week, so far.

The airplanes are diverting as we speak - they where already in the air when the apology and the “graab” reached them by online video.

They cut the part though were 4 strong soldiers where used to get him back on his feet later.

"Stealing", huh? Always gotta blame someone else instead of contemplating and improving own shortcomings.

This will be an epic clash of cultures. Polite, orderly, kind Japanese vs. rude, unruly, uncouth Chinese tour groups.

There is no love loss between the two countries, I can't wait for the reports of Chinese kids pooping on the streets. I feel so sorry for the Japanese, they are such wonderful people.

You dont have to poop on the street in japan. They have clean FREE public restrooms unlike here.

next week TAT will be claiming the opposite. No worries Thailand.. The spin you weave will not be broken by the japs

Japan is much more expensive than Thailand,  I am really flat out surprised.

Generally speaking, perhaps there is validity to your statement. Then again, I am not a general and haven't met all the players.

You might find a polite well mannered chinese but you won't find a bad mannered, selfish japanese...

Sounds like a different tourist demographic, Japan ain't cheap. Could draw the conclusion the cheapo Chinese tours to Thailand are dwindling while Japan gets the more affluent ones. Which is good, very goooooooooood, please continue.

Thank you Japan for taking the bullet for the rest of people!
