PHUKET: An official from Wichit Municipality involved in the investigation into the fire at the Tribhum attraction at Central Phuket Floresta last Saturday (Sept 29) has confirmed that the structure of the attraction that burnt to the ground did meet the municipality’s required safety standards.

Speaking to The Phuket News on Monday (Oct 1), Kumron Lilert of Wichit Municipality’s Engineering Department said, “The Tribhum attraction did meet with all the required safety standards set out by municipal regulations.”

Mr Kumron’s comments come despite him also saying that the affected area of the Tribhum attraction, a 3D virtual adventure fantasy walkthrough, which was to officially open in November, burnt to the ground in just 20 minutes.

Not sure how he knows they met all the required safety standards when he had no idea what materials were used. If in fact they did meet the standards then maybe those standards need changing

And that's with meeting the standards?

If it had been occupied many people wouldn't have stood a chance of escaping alive or uninjuried.

  • When The Phuket News reporter asked Mr Kumron of Wichit Municipality’s Engineering Department what materials were used in the burnt out structure, he confirmed, “The material was fibreglass mixed with other materials. However, I am not yet sure what those other materials were. Right now I cannot make any conclusion.”

But he did make a conclusion - protect himself from blame.
