February 11, 200719 yr Hello all, I am considering a couple of contracts in Denmark and the Republic of Ireland. Currently my wife is living in England on a 2yr settlement visa. Before i take things further with the contracts i wondered if anyone could provide some quick advice on my wife travelling with me. Would the schengen visa suffice or as we would be living in the countries would we need to make some sort of settlement visa app to the country involved. If a schengen visa is acceptable how long can these be valid for ? Many thanks in advance. Simon
February 11, 200719 yr Simon, If you go to work in either Denmark or Ireland, you will be exercising your right to freely work in another EEA country and, as such, your wife is entitled to accompany you, irrespective of her nationality. You can apply for a visa for her, free of charge, at either the Danish or Irish embassy, as appropriate. Cheers, Scouse.
February 12, 200719 yr Author Thanks Scouser. Another prompt and helpful reply as always.......You should be charging for this service
February 12, 200719 yr Well, if you want assistance with the application, by all means get in touch. Scouse.
February 12, 200719 yr Scouse Just to make you work for your money how will the fact that she will now make an application to live in another EU country affect her LTR in UK?
February 12, 200719 yr There's actually an advantage to be had there. On the basis that Simon will have been exercising his European rights in either Ireland or Denmark, his wife can then apply for a free family permit for the purposes of returning to the UK to live. Scouse.
February 13, 200719 yr Author Well i've just signed a contract for a job in Milton Keynes so this is no longer an issue. Not quite as glamorous as Copenhagen or even Dublin Thanks for the help anyway. MA - good question - i hadn't even considered it could be beneficial to have worked outside the UK when considering ILR......
