After the recent "holidays" given to the funny, articulate and hansum members of this forum, I think a poll is in order :D

The Wart of The Ring thread was one of the better threads on this forum and the one liners/jokes were brilliant. The powers that be on Thai Visa banned us and called the posters "junk posters" and "bad Language" was not welcome here.

I agree with the Mods to a certain extent, but there is a fine line in any humour/comedy and maybe this forum could lighten up a bit.

I propose a Forum Thread called Goofing off, where we can have a joke and post some useless information.

It might even stop the human urge of some of us posters to lighten up dull threads.

I realise this website is information based for the "thinking mans expat", but this is also a forum for real expats (the main contributors I might add), that couldn't give a hoot about Visas for Eskimos and want to have a laugh with like minded people.

Imagine Eddie Murphy's stand up routine without the expletives :o

You got my vote, and yes. the "Wart of the Rings" thread was one of most humerous threads on the forum. Started from a genuine post that was just begging for jibes, and G.Scamp was brilliant all the way through. Unfortunately it seems to have been "nuked"

The only trouble with "Goofing Off" is that all the undesirables will congregate there, and the rest of the forum will be void of decent humour :o

I like the way you define the real expat but somehow I get the feeling that this board was not meant to be for what you define as the 'real expat".. :o

Welcome back Gentleman. I expect others are sharpening knifes, already.

As for one-liners, if witty, I am not against. As for a separate Forum, I am not so sure, it could become something like the jokes-thing.

Now what is wrong with the Eskimos, don't they get any visa to visit Thailand? :D

Nope, they've been cold-shouldered

I'd say use the jokes section. :o Though more often than not, these things start out with a regular, normal post and only turn goofy later. Personally I'd let a lot of it go, I mean the world is a serious enough a place as it is. But posts that already start out as off-topic BS are often unfunny and reduce the usefulness of this site. There's a balance somewhere..

Cheers,

Chanchao

I think multiple quoting should be banned

I have just added this last line to ensure I am not 'one lining'

to think, they actually thought I was serious :o - those gung ho yankees are very easily ruffled. I used to post whilst laughing :D

I just think Bronc, that a goofing off thread, might be as good as the gay thread and the bird flu one. :D

They don't understand the subtlety of the antipodean humour G, probably should include an instruction set with every post. :o

'antipodean humour '

does that mean making the sheep laugh before you Sh*g it?
