- If people in Thailand paid the legal price to authorised dealers for every item they buy, it would have amounted to $219.7 million in 2006.

This argument is ridiculous. If people in Thailand only had the option of paying the 'legal' price most of them simply wouldn't buy. Only a small fraction of the 'loss' would actually translate into real sales.

One day the music/movie industry will wake up and start selling their goods at prices that normal people can afford - and when they do I have no doubt they will also find they can more money that way.

must be always carefully with the figures.....

Example:

When Somchai has 100 games at home, price if bought as original 50 USD each, than it doesn't mean that the industry lost 5000 USD.

Without piracy he would be only able to buy 2 games for 100 USD.

The WinXP in the internet would be than Linux.

Usually the calculate (sold pirated software)x(official price) what is nonsense.....

Just to keep this in perspective, this is a lobby group that works with;

Association of American Publishers

Business Software Alliance

Entertainment Software Association

Independent Film & Television Alliance

Motion Picture Association of America

Recording Industry Association of America

It's their job to push governments to pass the most restrictive laws possible. Those who don't get bullied with reports like this.

The pain of an expat's life.............

These B**tards are why you cannot play that video that you bought when you went home last summer,

and why you need a new DVD player when you move to a new country.

Yes, I do know that multi-region DVD players are around,

but I suspect it will not be so easy to hack the new generation of HD equipment. :o
