2 Children With X, Court Documents, Workpermit And Responsible!

Featured Replies

I really would like to know what to do!

I'm now 40(farang), have 2 children(early teens with Thai birth certificates) by my ex-Thai spouse.

I have lived in Thailand for 17 years, have accumulated assets, and consider the Kingdom my home.

It now leaves me wondering why immigration regulation changes, many I have seen over the years can cause us stress.

Consider this... I have had both types of visas, by my spouse(now my Ex-spouse) and via work permits which have never been my own company as I am a professional in my field. At the time of my separation I was given 10 days to leave the county due to the separation coinciding with my yearly renewal for one year visa, for reasons not needed to be explained my ex wanted me out of site(which would obviously helped her control the significant assets I have built up), and refusing to sign was in-fact the legally correct action as I had moved out of our residence, thus we did not live together even though the past 10 years we had!!!! At that time I was not working full time, and did not wish too. The visa I held for more than 10 years was cancelled on leaving the country. Bring 3 million baht into the country would have solved this problem at that time, sorry, cash was not liquid enough to manage at that time.

Spent two years on temporary visas while fighting the court cases, extensions on top of extension, all costing 1,900baht at the time! More painful psychologically than anything else at the time.

Move on a few years... I have court documentation, fully processed that I am the 100% guardian of our 2 children. The courts threw her requests out the door to have me removed as a guardian and with my own defense being vigorously supported by business leaders, senior government officials and even the Governors of 2 provinces I had contributed too in a significant fashion. Court documentation is fully signed stamped etc and processed in front of a Judge about 3 years ago.

Now, my dilemma! I have money, house, car the works. I am employed with a work permit to a western company. Now, what should I do if I want to leave my job? Under 50, guardian of 2 children fully documented with court papers. Should I want to take a break from work, I had always understood that this should not be a problem as now I was free of the shackles of a Thai wife having to sign at immigration, I would be able to take my daughters over and process my yearly visa. My understanding by the topics at hand regarding visa extensions, are that if I want to continue to reside in the Kingdom,,,,,,, do not leave my job!!!

Now this brings me to ask the question.. I have always done things by the book. I have always processed visas myself, managing documentation, wedding certificates, birth certificates, bank statements and all the translations etc. Now, after all this time, is it time to play the system. Cook the books so to speak!

I did register my own company 4 years ago, with myself as a director. This company is legally up-to-date on filing etc. Should I now fabricate the scenario to suit my future desire to stay.... or do I just keep working just to keep my status and sanity?

Lost for words, still working coz I have too....... Jay (or just give up and sell up!!)
