webfact
Interior Min raising public awareness of upcoming election BANGKOK, 22 October 2018 (NNT) – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has ordered government agencies to educate Thai people about the 2019 election. Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda says the premier has instructed related agencies to raise people’s awareness about matters related to municipal and general elections such as the primary voting system. Gen Anupong noted that his ministry will be working with the Election Commission of Thailand, to support all of its activities including preparations for the general poll. As for the overall situation after political parties started visiting local communities, the minister said the electoral body is monitoring their movements to make sure their actions are lawful. February 24th, 2019 is the earliest date for the national poll. The two organic laws governing the elections of senators and members of parliament came into force last month. -- nnt 2018-10-

Shouldn't that be "to re-educate Thai people about the 2019 election." 1 hour ago, webfact said: As for the overall situation after political parties started visiting local communities, the minister said the electoral body is monitoring their movements to make sure their actions are lawful. "Lawful": to fall within what the government wants to restrict them to.
inactiveposter
I remember the PM saying the election could not happen before the coronation, yet there has been no info provided on the coronation date. In this article it states that February 24th is the earliest possible date for the election. Does this signal another push coming?
yellowboat
If they allowed campaigning, everyone would know. Without the freedom to address the public, the announcement of an election is a gross waste of time. There is know love for the process just heaps and heaps of fear. According to the Constitution, that role belongs to the EC, not the PM - particularly since PM Prayut indicates a possible conflict of interest with the EC by his public consideration of running for the next PM. But conflicts of interests is SOP for the Prayut regime. 6 hours ago, webfact said: Gen Anupong noted that his ministry will be working with the Election Commission of Thailand, to support all of its activities including preparations for the general poll. Only behind the scenes with no public contact with such activities. That would again be a conflict of interest. But again SOP.

Not that any of this election circus has anything to do with anything. Remember, any acts or mandates are required to be approved and blessed by certain particular proxy entities. Not sure about another push but it does signal that the PM is making everything up as he goes. Just the way the public prefers their leadership to steer the country....by the seat of their pants. zzaa09
I do wish that this reference and standing of calling Prayut a Prime Minister would cease. He's not that, nor should he be anointed with this imaginary title.
