I'm going to need a Non-O one year extension based on marriage March 2019.

What happens to those of us with Thai wife and children if the embassy will no longer provide us with an income letter?

I receive 70k per month from property rentals overseas deposited directly into my Bangkok Bank account. My embassy always used to ask me to prove these deposits by showing the international bank transfers transactions with my bank statements.

I don't have the 400k to put in the bank at this time.  What am I supposed to do now?

Income letters are valid for six months apparently, so get one before they stop issuing them.

Thanks

What happens after that assuming I will never have the the 400k?

I don’t know but at least you’ll have another year to sort something out. I’d imagine they will come to some arrangement by then but I could be wrong of course. I’d try not to get stressed out about it now though - wait and see what unfolds over the next few months.

There is no guarantee immigrantion will accept letters, after Jan 1st, that do not state the income has been verified.

You could get a non ‘O’ visa from Savannahket and do 90/150 day border runs.

If you are a parent you only need to show 400K in your bank on the day you apply. You could borrow any shortfall from a friend.

Immigration are discussing what to do, I think they will either back down or start accepting proof of income going into Thai a account from abroad.

Are you 100% sure there’s no seasoning requirement for parents? If that’s right, the agency I used were incompetent idiots (which would come as no surprise to me).

100%.

I’ve had two extensions as a parent (with my wife present) at two different offices. The first one was at CW and on the advice of a senior officer.

Thank you. Does that mean you don’t need any kind of letter from the bank either, just an up-to-date bank book?

Being charitable, I’d guess the agents I used stated marriage as my reason for wanting an extension but they also asked for my child’s birth certificate etc. so they should have been aware of this alternative.

(Of course, if I weren’t so lazy, I might have been aware of it myself)

You need all the same docs as before including the bank letter and birth certificate. Your child should be with you too.

What embassy? I ask because, if it always asked you to prove your income, as you say, it is doing what Thai immigration wants & 'verifying' your income. So there's no reason for it stop issuing income letters.

German embassy / consulate. The IMO's never accepted just my bank statements, even though they showed international transaction transfer codes coming from overseas on a monthly basis. IMM has always asked for the income verification letter. No exceptions.

So many rumors going around saying IMM is no longer going to be accepting the letters starting next year, and others saying all embassies will follow suit and not issue anymore letters.

The situation sucks for us poor folk without the 400k

Seems like 90/150 is the only solution that's going to be left.

As far as I'm aware Thai immigration have not issued any announcement of any official policy change. So the income letter, if you have one, is still good.
