BANGKOK, 2 November 2018 (NNT) – The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Office has targeted net investment applications at 100 billion baht per year.

The Secretary-General of the ECC Policy Committee, Kanit Sangsubhan, said on Thursday that the government has set an ambitious target for the EEC of 300 billion baht in investment applications annually. Of the target, 200 billion baht has been assigned to the Board of Investment (BOI), and the remaining applications are the EEC Office's duty.

Mr. Kanit said the government expects the EEC to increase the country's gross domestic product (GDP) by another two percent from the fundamental GDP at three percent per year.

He said the government has a plan for new roadshows in Japan, China, and Europe to continually attract investments in the EEC.

What is "EEC Office's duty"?

Is that like administrative "overhead" of about one third of the total anticipated collections?

Studies of Corruption in Thailand show that it costs generally about one-third of funds spent on projects for (as some call it politely) "tea money." Is there a coincidence?
