pookett
Does anyone know where I can get a couple of these beasties? It's basically an extra tap, set and forget style, that can lessen the pressure of water entering an electric shower unit, allowing you to just turn on the normal tap and adjust the heat on the shower unit, rather than having to balance the both every time. In the link its the little plastic valve/tap attached to the inlet of the shower unit. Like this one
Old Croc
I had something similar on one of my showers. The flow from the shower rose was pathetic until I worked out that this device was to blame for severely restricting the water into the heater. Took it off and fixed the problem. I don't know where it came from, although I would think probably Homepro or a plumbing supply place. Have you checked out the obvious?
lopburi3
They are normally supplied on shower units - they not only adjust water they have filters to prevent sand from blocking heating unit. Perhaps clean if restricting flow? Not aware of them being sold separately but suspect any heater repair shop might have from old units. You can use any valve for this function (without filtering) if you want. The normal wall shutoff valves would work fine.

pookett
Thanks for the replies. Yes, I've tried all the obvious places but will hunt out a heater specialist. Our problem is the water pressure is a bit too high for the showers to cope with heating. The original control valves were broken by visitors. The standard stop valve (straight as opposed to 90deg.) is my current back up plan...
