By The Nation

Bangkok police arrested 109 motorcyclists on Friday after their motorcycles were found to have been illegally modified with the apparent intention to race on roads.

The motorcyclists were arrested at road checkpoints in the Metropolitan Police Division 2 jurisdiction.

Pol Maj Gen Ekkachai Boonwisit, commander of the division, said 135 motorcycles were seized and 109 riders arrested, 53 of them being younger than 18.

Ekkachai added that three of the arrested motorcyclists tested positive for drug use.
