Body of Leicester City club owner arrives at Wat Thepsirin

Thammarat Thadaphrom

BANGKOK, 3rd November 2018 (NNT) – The body of Leicester City football club owner and King Power chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabh, who was killed in a helicopter crash just outside of King Power Stadium in the UK along with four other people, arrived in Thailand on Friday.

The body was directly transported to Thepsirintharawas Rajaworavihara Temple in Bangkok for funeral rites. Inside the monastery, photography is allowed only at designated areas out of respect for the deceased and his family.

On Saturday, November 3rd, His Majesty the King will grant royal water for the bathing ceremony of Vichai. The ceremony commences at 5.30 pm, followed by a funeral prayer service at 6.30 pm.

From Sunday, November 4th, to Friday, November 9th, funeral prayer sessions will begin at 7 pm.

Apart from the royal water, His Majesty has graciously bestowed an octagonal ossuary, a five-tier umbrella, a royal flute, and a royal drum to be decorated at Vichai’s funeral.

On October 27th, Vichai's helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium shortly after taking off from the pitch. Against all odds, in 2016, he led Leicester City to Premier League championship for the first time in the football club’s long history.
