BANGKOK, 8th November 2018 (NNT) – Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) officials have disseminated information about and checked up on the progress of the “Na Ranong Intersection” bridge connecting Ratchadaphisek ring road and Rama 3 Road, which is expected to take three years to complete.

Deputy Permanent Secretary of the BMA, Sompong Wiangkaeo , and Deputy Commander of the Metropolitan Police, Pol Maj Gen Jirasan Kaeosaengake , on Wednesday led a public relations and inspection team to the bridge construction site in Khlong Toei district of Bangkok.

Preparations are being made to redirect traffic in the area from November 9 to accommodate construction work and reduce congestion. A bridge is being put up on Chua Plerng road to replace a damaged crossing; a U-turn bridge from Rama 3 to the Ratchadaphisek-Sundhornkosa ring road is also being installed.

The work is expected to take three years in, undertaken in four phases to minimize the impact on traffic. Meanwhile, commuters are being asked to avoid the area.

Pol Maj Gen Jirasan explained Ratchadaphisek, Rama 3 and Rama 4 roads will be affected during the project and police will be stationed at the intersection to monitor the situation.

Those normally driving from Ratchadaphisek to Rama 4 road are being asked to turn right onto Wireless Road and then left to Sathorn instead to reach Rama 3, or to use Rama 3’s Soi 67 and 72.

A reversible lane is being used to improve the situation further during the morning and evening rush hours and traffic will be monitored closely.

About 200,000 cars pass through Na Ranong Intersection daily. Citizens are being asked to keep up to date with the changes.

3 years and the four phases are: work, think how to fill pockets, fill pocket and rest and that all 4 times, but maybe  more times if it's not enough.
