Non B application London: A few questions

Recommended Posts

Im helping a friend complete the application form for a Non B visa application to be sent to the London Embassy, but I have a few questions, would be great if anyone could help, Im a bit unsure how to answer

1. Evidence Substantiating your purpose of visit (FOR NON-IMMIGRANT OR LONG STAY ONLY)

This is all the documents the lawyer is providing, correct? Should I just write "See attached supporting documents" ?

2. For departure travelling By: To (country beyond Thailand):

My friend is hoping to come in on a single entry Non B and has only booked a one way flight, no departure flight, as he plans to get a extension after the 90 days as he will get a work permit and intends to be employed for a few years over here. Should he

a) question be left blank?

b) write some flight number and date for a flight to say Cambodia?

c) actually book a real flight to Cambodia for 90 days after arrival that he has no intention of ever getting?

3. Maiden Name:

This only applies to female applicants that have got married and changed there surname, correct?

4. Purpose of Current Visit:

He should  write "work" is this correct? his documents from the layer will have the work permit papers showing his intention to get a work permit

A big thanks if anyone can give some advise on how to answer these application questions

thanks

Also on the london embassy website in the Non-B section, it states

- Copy of educational records of the applicant and letters of recommendation from the prior employers, identifying job description and length of service time.

If the applicant did not go to University and has no records from his school 30 years ago, does this matter if no educational records are submitted?

and how important are the recommendation letters from prior employees?

Anyone heard of them rejecting a application because they didn't have educational records and letters of recommendations included?

I suppose it rather depends on what the job is that he intends to take up.

If it is as a teacher then he definitely will need educational records, as well as a letter from the school or institute which is going to employ him. The details are available on the internet web thingy. Your "friend" will need a degree, a teaching qualification, (at least a TEFL course certificate), a criminal record check ( relevant to working with children) and a firm job offer from a registered institute or school.

Frankly, the restrictions on foreigners working are such that he will need confirmation of employment for virtually any job. Very few are likely to be open to someone with the (lack of) qualifications you describe. Basically an employer can only employ you, and a work permit is only issued, if a Thai cannot do the job.

If he intends to come here and look for work, then a tourist visa is a better bet. Once you have a firm job offer, with accompanying documents, off to a neighbouring country's Thai Cuisine to apply for a B Visa...

Is your friend setting up his own company or is a Thai company employing him,if a Thai company employing him will need correspondence from the Thai company,I suppose this will be in with the lawyers paperwork along with the work permit application,if your friend is using a lawyer or agent he should be able to best advise what to put on forms.

bump.

Hi TaninThai, yes a Thai company is going to employ him and have provided him with all the thai documents he needs, theve done this many times before but only for Thai embassies in France, Russia, Italy, Isreal, and Kuala Lumpur. They say they have never heard of one of there foriegn employees needing to provide education records to get the Non B visa, as they are a hospitality business not a school.

So does anyone know if the London embassy actually require the education records? (for applications who are NOT coming to be teachers).
