SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China has shown the missiles in its advanced J-20 stealth fighter jet to the public for the first time at its largest airshow, the Global Times newspaper reported on Monday.

The newspaper said two J-20 fighter jets opened their missile bay doors during a flypast on Monday, revealing that each jet had four missiles in its fuselage and one on either side of the aircraft.

Citing Chinese experts, the newspaper said the demonstration, which came on the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Air Force, displayed the J-20's superiority to the top U.S. fighter jets, the F-22 and F-35, as well as the PLA's growing confidence.

It also quoted military expert Song Zhongping as saying the four missiles in the J-20's fuselage were long-range air-to-air missiles, while the two on the sides were short-range combat missiles meant for aerial combat.

This will be interesting when they attack Taiwan in 2020.

there has been a long standing debate over the abilities of the F35 and early in its evolution it did not perform well

Recently one F35 was pitted against 10 Top gun highly experienced pilots (I believe from memory in F22's) - they said they never at any time during the engagement saw anything to target either on instruments or line of sight, they lost 10 to 1 in quite spectacular fashion

Who lost? The Top gun pilots or the F35?

"I believe from memory"

Was it really "Top Gun" pilots?

Was it really 10 of them?

Or was it this?:

Top Gun Denied: Why the F-22 vs. F-35 'Dogfight' in Norway Is Not ...

Funny old thing.............."memory".

From another "source":

"If you're looking to really dogfight, the F-22 wins in 5 seconds flat," he said. "But if it's about sensors and tracking, then the F-35 is going to look pretty good, especially if there are a lot of F-22s and you need to coordinate with other sensors."

No sweat. If they were dangerous they would be called 'hittiles'

What other countries will have this new China Jet? More than likely it is stolen technology so is pretty well known to the western countries.

I think the Chinese did a good job preventing information leaks, on this front. As for some of the concepts and technology used  being stolen - that's probably at least partially the case. But it doesn't directly follow that the aircraft is an open book for Western intelligence services. The days when all Chinese tech was crap are long gone. That said, the hype over this model is exaggerated, and obviously agenda-driven.

Given the source is a Chinese mouthpiece, they have to write such drivel. But seriously, it was an airshow bit. No real "superiority" was displayed.

I just hope that none of us see any engagements between any of the Super powers airforces in our lifetimes.

" displayed the J-20's superiority to the top U.S. fighter jets, the F-22 and F-35 "

Not yet, in another 10 years, most likely.
