The Election Commission is fully prepared to hold the upcoming election on February 24 next year and will be able to complete the registration of 12 remaining parties in time for the election, Election Commission secretary-general Pol Col Jarungvith Phumma said.

He gave the assurance in response to concerns voiced by United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship chairman Chatuporn Promphan on Sunday that the election could be postponed until May because the EC has yet to approve the registration of another 31 parties.

He said the EC had already approved the registration of 25 new political parties out of 37 applications, leaving only 12 – not 31 as claimed by Chatuporn – which still need to be examined by officials concerned.

Well, he should be confident 'cos it's only just over 3 months away. What could possibly go wrong in such a short space of time?

I will only be confident after the election date is toyally endorsed and gazetted. Until then I still don’t trust the man with article 44.

As the beloved article 44 was blessed and endorsed by the same influential party.

Every sorted political activity requires permission and blessings.....or, officially they don't exist.

Beginning to understand the real problems, and subsequent issues, that hinder any progress that Thailand could seek?

It is not the man with Article 44 you should distrust. There are other far more devious and cunning in the junta camp. Look no further than Deputy PM Wissanu.

The man who changes his cloth to suite the circumstances just to keep his nose in the trough. The PM needs to watch his back when Wissanu is around. Not that I care about the PM's back.
