last month i was sick with lung infection, this caused my insurance to require me to get a fit to fly cert, doctors would not isssue me a cert.

so, i over stayed approx 14 days, went to airport , paid fine of 7000 baht and apologised and told them i was sick,  end of. there was no questions asked.

i do not think they put a blacklist stamp on my passport . ( what does an overstay stamp look like ? )

that was 3rd november last week.

i need to return to thailand next week for 1 week stay only,  could they refuse me ?

cheers

jack

You may get asked a few questions so you should have a visa, 20,000 baht, flight out and booking for somewhere to stay.

No blacklist involved 100%, just get your ducks in a row.

You have not been blacklisted or banned. The stamp in your passport is just a record of your overstay and the fine paid.

If you are planning to re-enter that quickly you are best advised to get a Tourist Visa and not use visa exemption.

If you want to reduce the chance of being denied entry use a Tourist Visa.

whats worst can happen , i get turned away , then i can book fight to cambodia  or vietnam ?

They will usually insist you’re sent back from where you came by the airline that carried you.

They can allow you to fly elsewhere, but that’s entirely upto the airport immigration.

No. Illness is not an excuse for overstaying. If you're too ill to travel, with the support of a Doctor, you can get an extension of stay.

But if questioned on entry showing the proof of why he overstayed might help avoid a denial of entry.

Many people have entered after longer overstays without a problem.

Under the new regime announced yesterday, you may be lucky and have "Ms Immigration 2018", in shapely short uniform skirt, waiting to greet you at the airport. I hear they are also putting up bunting and handing out surprise crackers with Thai jokes inside.

No one, that makes it to the airport, that has an overstay ever has a problem leaving as long as they can pay the fine — and they don’t care why you overstayed.

Someone with a 40 day overstay caught in a bar is likely to be arrested, deported etc; whereas, the same person leaving at the airport will be waived through as long as they pay 20K.

You asked if you can be denied entry if you try an re-enter one week after leaving with an overstay. The answer is yes but unlikely.

Anyone can be denied entry. Entry is at the discretion of the IO. When the IO sees your overstay they might take umbrage. They also don’t like long term tourism using visa exemption.

So given they don’t look favourably on overstayers or visa exemption it is in your best interest, if you want to minimise the chance of being denied entry, to re-enter with a visa.

Many people have entered after longer overstays without a problem.

And some people returning quickly after a short overstay have reported being hassled when trying to re-enter.

As you know, having overstayed 14 days is not a reason for denying entry. If an IO is considering denying entry it will be because of repeat tourism combined with visa exempt entry. The overstay would be an aggravating factor but the reason for overstay irrelevant.

You would be well advised to get a tourist visa for your return, even for this short visit. Relying on a visa exempt entry could be a problem if you encounter the wrong immigration official after an overstay. In principle, the overstay should not seriously affect your chances of being admitted to Thailand on this occasion.

You are introducing new information. Your original post said you wanted to fly in next week. Depending on where you are now (you do not say) a tourist visa might be possible the same day. This is true if you are close to certain honorary consulates that will issue tourist visas while you wait.
