roadrunner32
Hi to all Unfortunately I did a big mistake when I renewed my 5 year thai driving license because I did it relying on my tourist visa while I should have to get a non immigrant first. And then they issued to me a 2 yrs license instead the usual 5 yrs However I didn’t give much account of that, since I believed that I could get international permit anyway .But unfortunately I found that I can’t do this, and it was told me that I have to wait the expiring of my current license in order to apply for a 5 yrs ones despite now I'm holding a non immigrant visa . But now I absolutely need the international driving permit since I will leave to Europe for a short period of time. Then my question is: can I do a conversion of my 2 yrs license to 5 yrs without having to wait the expiring of my 2 yrs license? Thank you Edited November 14, 2018 by roadrunner32
jackdd
Depending on to which country you plan to travel you might not need an IDP. Where are you going to travel to? Edited November 14, 2018 by jackdd
roadrunner32
2 years driving license is unable to drive anywhere it's valid for Thailand only, this is the reason that you can't get international permit based on it. Anyway my destination is Italy Edited November 14, 2018 by roadrunner32

Anyway my destination is Italy No, in for example in Germany you could use it together with a translation. But it seems that in Italy an IDP is required.
