Thai League One football team Pattaya United have confirmed rumors that they will change their name to Samut Prakan City.

The team that finished eighth in the league will be playing their games at the M Power Stadium in Samut Prakan in the 2019 season.

In an announcement on their website they thanked fans and officials for their continued support.

So Pattaya doesn't have a football team anymore.

Not that they'll be missed. They weren't very good anyway. ????????????

55 good joke, 2 months ago I just bought new Tshirt from Pattaya United in stadium 1200 baht.

Anything to do with finances??

Makes sense as City are way better than United.

I am waiting for my team, Man Utd, to change their name to Man City ...... oh.

Kind of ridiculous in that Samut Prakan isn't a city. Ironic also in the sense that Man United were the big cheese for decades on the strength of their performance and management, whereas City were nowhere until a freak succession of foreign investments.

That's annoying. I've always enjoyed attending the games at Nong Prue.
You'd think a city the size of Pattaya should be large enough to sustain at least one professional football club in T1 or T2.

What it needs is for a benevolent foreign investor to pump billions of Baht into a club. Must be plenty on here.

How can a team change cities?

is there not a team already in Samut Prakan?

Surely the chairman of Pattaya Utd would have to register this new team in the league and also sell Pattaya Utd?

So thank you loyal Pattaya fans now get lost!
