A doctor accused of raping a female patient with a “phallic object” during a check-up has offered the alleged victim Bt50,000, the woman's lawyer said on Thursday.

Despite the offer, lawyer Saranya "Nida" Wangsukcharoen vowed to pursue the charge after the doctor allegedly inserted a phallic object wrapped in a condom into the victim during a gynecological check-up "to arouse and reduce pain” during the procedure.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Saranya also attached a screen grab of a Line chat message between the female patient and the doctor showing the doctor's explanation and the payout offer.

When the patient asked why the doctor inserted the phallic object wrapped in condom, the doctor replied that the use of such an object was regarded as a sexual arousal technique so the pain in the affected area would be reduced due to the release of a "happiness hormone", similar to the use of narcotic substance to treat pain.

The doctor also offered Bt50,000 compensation to settle the case and said that "this amount wasn't meant to look down [on the patient]”, as "there is a pleasure felt deep inside the heart."

Can anyone please explain ... We hear all these stories from this site , rapes, murders, innocent people being run over , school children being abused and the list goes on ..

WHY , doesn't this site or the Nation let us know what actually happens to the people who get charged and their sentence .

I think it is illegal to discuss or criticize a court ruling in Thailand, so pretty pointless to have a thread going...

Had to look up what phallus means. It means: relating to or resembling a phallus or erect penis.

A happiness hormone, wonder if that is available on prescription?

Why this guy should receive, won`t say stiff, but a heavy jail sentence is because those in the medical professions and other so-called profession occupations, that at times we are in situations when we have to place our lives in their hands believing that these people know what they are doing and have to trust in them 100%. The same applies with the police, those working in the emergency services, dentists and including lawyers. When a person working in those professions takes advantage of our trust and vulnerabilities at their tender mercies so to speak and then do us harm, then these people should pay a heavy price, face fines, jail time and struck off for good.

Doctor accused of raping patient, Bt50,000 offer rejected

By THE NATION

A DOCTOR in his early 50s has been charged with rape and committing an indecent act after being accused of raping a 29-year-old female patient with a “phallic object” wrapped in a condom during a gynaecological check-up at a clinic in Nakhon Sawan’s Muang district.

Deputy superintendent Pol Lt-Colonel Booncherd Chanmanee said the unnamed doctor, who was present at the police station to hear the two charges yesterday afternoon, denied wrongdoing and insisted he would only testify in court.

Police will now gather evidence, including the result of the victim’s medical examination at Police General Hospital, he said, adding that it was a case in which the accused and the victim could settle the dispute privately.

According to the complaint, the 29-year-old woman, who works at a local authority office, had been suffering from severe stomach pain when she sought treatment at the accused doctor’s clinic on September 5.

During the “examination”, she says the doctor rubbed his genitals against hers and tried to kiss her on the mouth, and she had to push him away three times before he withdrew.

On September 21, the victim again sought treatment at the clinic and underwent a further gynaecological check-up. This time, she alleged, the doctor inserted a tool into her, resulting in pain and numbness, before he raped her for 15-20 minutes. It was then, the woman says, that she felt humiliated by the sexual violation and decided to pursue criminal charges against the doctor.

The woman’s lawyer, Saranya “Nida” Wangsukcharoen, said the doctor offered her client Bt50,000 to settle the case but she had rejected the offer and vowed to pursue charges against him.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Saranya also attached a screenshot of a Line chat message between the female patient and the doctor purporting to show the doctor’s explanation and the pay-out offer.

When the patient asked why the doctor had inserted the object, he replied that it was regarded as a sexual arousal technique used to reduce pain in the affected area through the release of a “happiness hormone”, similar to the use of a narcotic substance to treat pain.

Referring to the Bt50,000 proposed settlement offer, the doctor allegedly wrote: “This amount wasn’t meant to look down [on the patient] … [as] “there is a pleasure felt deep inside the heart”.

and did you ever stop to think how asinine your statement was?

Before you go off half cocked, learn the facts of the case first. I'm not defending the doctor or minimizing the severity of rape, but there seems to be an attempt here to extort money from the doctor. She visited the same doctor twice, the first time he tried to kiss her and she pushed him away, then she goes to see him again. Why not make a complaint the first time around?

In other words "we can't be bothered with this"? If it was their wife or girlfriend or daughter they would probably quickly "dispose" of the rapist!

A lazy bad attitude by those who are (supposed) to SERVE and PROTECT!! :post-4641-1156693976:

Apparently there was not a nurse in the room during the examination, which there should be by world standards; which most hospitals claim to meet with their mail in, paid for, USA accreditation.  I have experienced this norm being violated when my wife was in the hospital and the male physician making rounds did not have a nurse with him when examining my wife.  I chastised him for not bringing one and after that he complied.  So they know this is the norm, but don't care to be professional.  Apparently the doctor in the story had more "happy hormones" released than the patient.

read you original quote.... I don't know why she didn't make a complaint the first time around, there could be a myriad of reasons.  You are victim blaming, and I know you will take umbrage at that, but you are

If you are not living in Thailand then be aware it is a patriarchal/feudal society. If you are living there, then you have blinkers on or are wearing rose tinted spectacles!

The police are a unlawful group. What right do they have to decide where the matter can be settled. You in the future will be reformed and no longer be judge and jury. Why because your not fit to.

Just another sick Thai that wanted some action. A danger to society
