Tourist visa then VOA

Featured Replies

I got a tourist visa last month from Laos then I went to Singapore for one week festival.

I was planning to get Re-entry permit before departure but was told at Krabi that the office in town was closed on Sunday...

Bangkok(DMK) -Krabi-Singapore

Singapore-Krabi-Singapore

I didn't want to miss my flight so I decided to take my flight knowing my tourist visa would be canceled...

Now I'm planning to do opposite trip Saturday and I was wobdering:

1) Would I get problem to get VOA?

2) Where will be the immigration check (Krabi or DMK)?

3) What would happen if I get refused VOA?

4) My tourist visa I got still have one month left but I know it's cancelled, can I say with the fact that DMK staff told me I could get Re-entry in Krabi but it was not true (that's a fact)

5) If refused, could I book a flight to Laos and get Tourist there again?

Background : Canadian

Tourist visa

ED visa

ED visa

Non-B visa (one year contract)

Tourist visa

.. Now..

Thx

Too late now, but you could have applied for the re-entry permit at the airport before boarding your international flight.

Whether a visa exempt entry (not a visa on arrival which is different) could be a problem will depend on your extended history of stays in Thailand. Some officials are suspicious of those with a mix of education and tourist entries. Have you had many previous visa exempt entries in earlier years?

When trying to enter visa exempt, it is prudent to show plenty of cash (any major currency) and an onward flight ticket out of Thailand.

My only VOA was 3 years ago... Then only visa...

If you have answers to my other questions that would be great. Will definitely get outbound flight covered. Thx

1. Probably not, but uncertain.

2. I believe you will clear immigration at the airport where you first land in Thailand, with the DMK<=>Krabi flight being only a domestic flight.

3. If refused a visa exempt entry (again, do not confuse this with a visa on arrival which is different) you will most likely be flown back to Singapore.

4. You can say what you like, but the reason for no re-entry permit will not usually make any difference to the official's decision.

5. You might need to fly to Vientiane from Singapore, after being returned there. It depends on immigration and the airline that carried you to Thailand. The airline ought to be happy to help you get a flight to Vientiane (with you paying, of course) because it takes you off their hands, and is perfectly within the rules. However, you cannot always talk to the right people to make that happen.

Good luck!
