NE1
Does anybody use one of these ? Are they vehicle specific ? I have a 120 klm round trip to my Ford dealer if I have any hiccups / worries . Are they any good for peace of mind ? Sort of quick check up.
canthai55
Most consumer models will only read trouble codes. OBDII is a world standard, so not model specific. They will on hookup ask for your car make model year and engine size Apps available for smart fones, as is a wireless transmitter which plugs into OBD port and sends to said fone. Can also clear trouble codes which will extinguish check engine light
NE1
I read one one of the reviews that some will not work with diesel engines. Are they talking about big trucks or any diesel car/pick up ?
ping2093
Thailand formally adopted ODBII in 2013, therefore vehicles sold before this date may not talk to OBDII readers, particularly ELM327 units.

This prevents the insertion of a type A male plug into a type B female socket while allowing a type B male plug to be inserted into a type A female socket. The type A connector is used for vehicles that use 12V supply voltage, whereas type B is used for 24V vehicles and it is required to mark the front of the D-shaped area in blue color. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-board_diagnostics#OBD-II
