VISA Exemption extension

Featured Replies

Hello,

my girlfriend is Cambodian citizen and want to go to Thailand overland border Poi Pet. She will get 14 days visa exemption. Is this possible to extend that at imigration in Thailand for 14 days more?

Might not suit, but I often wondered about an exit and reenter. For example let's say you were going to visit somewhere like udon thani. Could she exit at non kai to loas then reenter with another 14 day?

Interesting. I have "similar" thread about taking my Thai partner to Japan. Thai get 15 day. Can exit and reenter for another 15.

So far zero reply.

Good luck

Visa exempt entries granted under bilateral agreement cannot be extended inside Thailand. I do not think there is any official limit to the number of times she can do a border bounce for another 14-day entry, but would worry about using the dodgy Poipet/Aran border crossing. Ensure she has minimum 10,000 baht cash when entering visa exempt. If she wants to spend longer periods in Thailand, it will be necessary to apply for a visa in Phnom Penh.

I'm from Germany and I can get visa exemption  for 30 days in Thailand. On many website in Germany they writing that is possible to extend that 30 days on imigration with TM.7 for 30 days more. Why should be not possible for Cambodian to extend for 14 days more?

Because the 30 day extension is only for those under the standard visa exempt scheme that is under a ministerial order done by the interior ministry.

They get them under a bilateral agreement between Thailand and Cambodia initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From the police order for extension of stay.

Thank you for information. She will leave Thailand after 14 days and then re-enter after some days to get 14 days more. Hope will be no trouble at Poi Pet.

Thank you for your message. This time very difficult because they not give her visa in Phnom Penh. Hope we can stay 4 weeks together in Thailand by visa run.

So do i! I wish her luck. Make sure that she knows she should go to another border crossing if she has trouble crossing at Poipet.
