cyril sneer
Is this normal when buying a 2nd hand car? When I bought a bike it was only 200 baht I've been told the price is always a lot more for car ownership and the price is dependent on the weight of the car

OneMoreFarang
I think it depends on the price in the contract. I remember someone asked me some time ago to put a lower price in the contract for that department to avoid extra cost.

When I was involved in this recently the main Chonburi DLT did it on the basis of what they estimated the value to be which was more than it was bought for........???? Sorry OP but I cannot remember if based on a %age or scale but at 5k I am guessing the value is about 900k?
steve187
lack of information in the op, where is the car registered, are you in the same province, value of car/vehicle, who quoted the price - agent or government office
JAS21
I think that cars have blue books ... well our three do... and motorcycles have green books. Also the book stays the same but is updated, you don't get a new one. Transfer fee varies with the sale price ... if you quote it too low then the LTO will affix their valuation. 5K thb sounds somewhat high for a value of 900K thb ...
transam
Just sold my trusty ol' Vigo, Mrs.Trans went to the LTO to do the blue book thing, I just signed the papers. She didn't notice what he had to pay, but I think the bloke earlier said it would cost around 3000bht, which he paid..????
