I plan to get married early next year. Any suggestions on what I need to change? I got a Non_Immigrant O from Vientiane in 2015  and have been doing extensions based on retirement, I would like to make this change since I am only required to show my Social Security statement as "proof". Since there is no "income letter" option anymore, I am kind of nervous about the procedure. From three income sources, I draw over 79 thousand baht a month but I think the less paperwork I try to hand them, the better off I may be. Any advice appreciated.

You can do one more Sir, Just get your income letter now before they stop issuing them. That letter is valid another 6 months from date of issue, and apply for you extension based on that letter. You will be just fine...

I am not scheduled for another renewal until next October. I doubt if I could do it early enough to use the letter, if it's only good for six months.

Sorry, as you were NOT mentioning any special date for extension, I thought when saying you were getting married early next year, you also implied that you were having that extension at the very same time.

sorry for you...

From the feedback that is coming in, it is looking more and more likely that proof of income will be by monthly bank deposits. If you have regular incomes and deposit 65k plus per month into a local bank, you can continue on retirement extensions. No need to switch to marriage, which involves more paperwork and a more intrusive process which many folks don't like.

However, we still don't know for sure whether TI will be asking for any further proof. Keep watching the forum for more info regarding the proof required for income based extensions.

Best wishes for your upcoming marriage.

You don’t need to do anything when you get married, just wait until you’re due to renew next October.

As of now we do not what will be accepted in place of the income letter. I suggest you transfer at least 40K baht into your account every month, and if you can get your Thai bank balance over 400K.

Long before October next year you will know if they will accept proof of your regular income coming from abroad into your Thai account, but you need a back up plan in case they don’t.

The bank balance option is almost impossible for me. I live on my monthly income. The income affidavit decision is creating an unnecessary crisis for retirees.

It's only a crisis for those who do not have a capital sum or the specified minimum income. You state in your opening post that you draw 79,000 THB per month. That is more than enough to qualify for a retirement extension.

If you arrange to have that deposited in a local bank account it should not be a crisis for you at all. As I said earlier, it appears very likely that TI will want to see this when one applies for extension.

Keep an ear open for the latest developments and ignore most of the speculative rubbish that you will read on this forum.

Enjoy your day.
