I wonder what members feel about this subject? I am of the opinion still, that TV overall is the leading TH Forum for information & help of anything TH related, mostly based on the

efforts of a number of very active, polite, supportive and well-informed members & mods. However it seems that the "mood' has definitely turned quite negative and much less interesting

subjects & diversity are  available. Some weeks it seems quite boring. Are we running out of the good stuff? Is this due to  many expats having left or just not interested anymore?

Or just a normal consequence of changing tourism and demographics. I don't wanna bring up "the good old times", but having been here for 22+ years, it certainly feels that way and it seems

to have accelerated the last few years. Might just be me ???? ????

Let's see what opinions & feedback we will get here.  Have a nice Sunday all. MS>

In my opinion over the years the "moderation" of the forum has become more liberal (with a small "L"), somethings that are posted today would never have been tolerated 13 years ago when I first signed up.

But the best thing about TV it is very different to most of the other (English language) farang forums which really are there to promote interests in the seedier side of Thailand.

In truth moderation of this forum in 2003 was almost non existent....it was fast flowing and hilarious.

By 2009 onwards it became much more sedate in what it allowed but was still a vibrant place.

Now it is almost dead by comparison yet with one or two shoots of interest.

The subforums in its day were the place to be and still are containing wonderful wisdom and advice.

Maybe the problem is that every single subject that is in anyway related to Thailand has been done to death.

For longterm members, yes. Visa requirements, for example, change like the wind.

We did not get three question referenda 3 - 5 years ago..............................LOL. (Joke)

Just on one aspect: I recall that about 5 years ago there was organised and coordinated bullying by a group of posters on an almost daily basis, targetting individuals they disliked. At that time <removed> this atrocious behaviour went unchecked. Now <removed> have driven out these miscreants and the forum is better for it.

As a relatively new member ( 1 year lurking + 2 years active) I cannot comment on the “ good old days “.
But, I find there is a good mix of helpful advice , interesting topics and fun stuff.
Out of order posting is quickly dealt with and constant troll posters move on to less moderated sites.
Lively discussion is constructive and, except for those who just want to create an argument, and entertaining.
There’s plenty of content available, whether it’s visa related, humour, music, photography or just a good old moan about the price of cheese in LOS !!, there is something for everyone.

A couple of comments for what there worth.

1. Some posts seem to go on far too long. But, if they still attract attention I guess ok.

2. Cut short some bickering between 2 or 3 members when they just bait & flame each other. If they feel the need to carry on with a one on one tirade there's always PM.

This topic has crossed my mind many times in 2018. I've been here 6 plus years and the topics in the GENERAL and THAI NEWS are waaaaaay less. Maybe it's my perception? I miss that (60 years old) ? guy doing the daily video.. He Had a great smooth British accent and a pleasure to watch him. He vanished 6 months ago. Sadly.

it has dropped off, most days there were interesting things to read, seems that a lot of it started falling down after the coup. Used to be able to talk about everything in here, now we are censored in what we can discuss without breaking TV rules which does stifle debate a fair bit. Basically its still the same, we have those that come in here to whinge and those that try to defend everything thai but we are still able to get some good advice and help when needed as well as those that simply bag everything, as they say, sh*t happens

I think you've summed it up precisely. Well done.

IMHO TV is a very useful resource for specialist problems. Contributors such as Ubon Joe, Crossy and Sheryl are valuable knowledge resources.

There are always topics on which posters will differ. Gun control (sic) in America is one of them.

As long as it is good-humoured, a bit of badinage on the threads is good fun.

The Chiang Mai forum is in the wilderness.when it used to be one of the best forums on here.

I'm not going to vote because I don't want to be negative.

I think there are outside factors that affect the quality and frequency of posting - for example Setanta on True and Astro are not showing the Superleague at convenient times, and did not show the Autumn Internationals or the 6 Nations, so there's really been nothing to discuss.

Yes correct. What's left? Never ending Visa-Issues and tabloid "human-interest" stories. But TVF is a "must" when it comes to keep "up to date" (Thai News).
