Thailand Holiday 7 weeks - Visa?

Featured Replies

Pretty boring question:

Going to Thailand for 7 weeks in the summer - do I need to get a visa or can I just book a 7 week ticket and after 30 days fly out to somewhere else then fly back in?

I worked in Thai for 10 years and always had my visa sorted so a bit clueless.

Just dont want any problems entering the country on a long stay ticket without a visa. Is the option there to state you will be travelling elsewhere or do they want to see you have either a visa or alternative plans ?

Cheers, John

Problem might be at check in if you are hoping for a visa waiver without a flight out within 30 days.

Why not get a single entry tourist visa?

Just get yourself a 60-day single-entry tourist visa from your local Royal Thai Embassy or consulate. Will save you potential problems in boarding your outbound flight with a 7-week return ticket as well as the need to faff about with a border run for an extra 30 days.

You could get a 30 day visa exempt entry and then extend it for 30 days at a immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

But the airline may not allow you to board your flight to here if you do not have a ticket out of the country within 30 days.

It would be best to get a single entry tourist visa that will allow a 60 day entry.
