PM meets Thais in Germany, reassures them election to take place Feb 2019

 

 

BANGKOK, 29 November 2018 (NNT) – Thailand's Prime Minister has assured Thais residing in Germany that the Kingdom is stable and that a general election will take place in February 2019. 

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha had the opportunity to meet with Thais residing in Germany during his visit to the country, viewing a performance staged by Thai-German youths who also presented him with a flower garland. 

 

The PM thanked the performers for appreciating the value of their Thai heritage and lauded all Thais in Germany for their ability to adapt to life in the country while still maintaining their roots. He assured them that the last four years of his government were a lead up to the election set to take place in February. 

Addressing major Thai investors in Germany, Gen Prayut said his government will continue to build ties in support of 4.0 industrial developments with collaborations to extend to research in all dimensions. He reiterated that 4.0 development is part of the nation’s 20 year development plan. 

Meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the premier underlined 156 years of good ties between Thailand and Germany while highlighting their strategic economic partnerships. He voiced his desire to see in-depth 4.0 developments continue while offering his assurance that Thailand will proceed according to his government’s road map with a general election in February 2019. 

The German Chancellor stated her nation is ready to work with ASEAN and to continue being a strategic partner with Thailand, indicating her support for Thailand’s political developments and bidding the election be a success. 

The PM is scheduled to arrive back in Bangkok today (November 29) at 1:35PM.

Indeed though best not mention the bet hedging about-turn during the war .. And try not to make arm movements thus whilst there ..

They were noted to be taken for attitude adjustment upon returning back????

Is he demonstrating how high his level of interest in democracy and fair election is?

 

I surely hope that Merkle had more to say behind closed doors regarding the rest of the worlds concerns for a FAIR election.

Thailand declared war on Britain and the US during the Second World War. I suppose that made them allies of Germany thus enhancing the goodwill between the two countries.

Why would Germans necessarily care if Thailand has an election in Feb 2019. They should be more concerned why they have been conducting business with an unelected military government the past 4 years.

Maybe still debating if it is Thailand, Taiwan, or Tonga, they know the general area of the world but unsure who it was that visited.

So if Merkel or Trump comes to Thailand us farang can also protest in Bangkok? I think it's quite ridiculous to do this abroad.

 

There are soo many different races living in Europe (with real passports) that the locals get tired of them protesting all the time and even rioting...Also the police has better things to do than guarding the protests.

Noting aside: Field Marshal Phibun was quite an admirer of the of the systems utilized in Germany, Italy, and Japan of the late 1930s into the early 1940s. The reflective ideals to emulate these contemporary Fascists and attempt to integrate into modern day Thailand was quite the struggle that fell largely on deaf ears [throughout the culture].
