Retirement visa expires

Featured Replies

Returning to Thailand 3 days before expiry of my retirement visa - multiple entry

Do I have to go to immigration and get 30 day visa if I am not going to renew my retirement visa?

Always important to clarify if its a visa or an extension as the answer will be different, If it is an O-A visa then you will get stamped in for 1 year. If returning on an extension, dont put the re-entry permit (if you have one) on your arrival card and enter on a 30 day visa exempt. Your extension would then be finished and not renewable.

If you have a non immigrant O-A visa from a consulate that is still valid you get a new one year stay on any entry.  If you mean you have a retirement extension of stay from immigrant with multi re-entry permit you will be permitted to stay until current stay expires - there is no option to extend 30 days (but if married to Thai you could extend 60 days with wife).  As said you can try leaving visa information blank on arrival card and hope for a 30 day visa exempt (if from a country allowed that).

I assume you have an extension of stay based on retirement that is expiring 3 days after you return, and that you have a ME re-entry permit.

If the IO at the border uses the re-entry permit you will be stamped in for 3 days and will have to leave again after 3 days, or renew your (1 year) extension of stay.

You could ask the IO not to use the re-entry permit and to give you a 30 day visa exempt entry, or use any visa that you obtain between now and the day you re-enter.
