Samut Prakan woman surrenders after dumping her stillborn babies in garbage bin

By The Nation

A 26-year-old woman who claimed she did not know she was pregnant surrendered to police on Friday night after her twin stillborn babies were found in a garbage bin in front of her apartment building in Samut Prakan's Muang district.

The woman, whose name was withheld, turned herself in to Bang Pu police after the station was told at 8.30pm that two stillborn babies were found in a garbage bin between the 24th and 25th flat buildings of the Ua-Arthon 3 government housing estate.

Thonglun Kaewwonghiew, 57, told police that she was collecting recycleable plastic bottles for sale when she found the babies in a plastic shopping bag.

Police checked security camera footage and saw a woman dropping the bag into the bin at 4.22pm on Friday.

While police were checking rooms at the building where the woman walked from, she surrendered at the police station.

She claimed that she did not realise that she was pregnant because she broke up with her boyfriend over four months ago.

She said she felt pain on Friday morning but she thought it was menstruation pain so she took two painkiller pills. At 11am she said she went to the toilet to relieve herself and the two stillborns came out.

She said she was shocked and did not know what to do. She used a pair of scissors to cut the umbilical cord and rode her motorcycle to buy napkins as she had a lot of bleeding. She said she waited until the bleeding receded before dumped the bodies.

She said she decided to go to surrender to police when she saw police come into her building.

She was taken to Samut Prakan as she looked unwell due to massive bleeding.

No charge has been laid.

I think the last thing she needs is your kind of thinking and jail time.

Without being harsh she is probably like you and me not Einstein.

Help and a bit of understanding might be a good idea in the first instance.

Poor woman, stillborn surprise babies are hardly her fault (or anyone else's for that matter).

It happens, and nothing can be done about it.

Yes some guy wants a woman who just had stillborn babies, sent to jail. This poor woman

has enough problems from this ordeal, I hope she recovers and has a good life in the future.

  Sad story.

He's not a happy bunny.

Glass always half empty type.

I often notice his posts on various topics.

Always angry.

Always ranting & raving.

The usual Thai this no good that no good.

Back in my home country we do it better.

You've met the type, they are everywhere....

I think abstaining from having sexual intercourse might have prevented it.
