Hi

I couldn't find information on your site that covered my situation.

I am an Australian who entered Thailand from China with an onward ticket to Australia that departs 32 days later.

I know I have only 30 days 'visa free' and I planned on getting a visa, or a visa extension (not sure what I need) while I was here.

So, what is it that I am looking for and where can I go for this? I am in Kalasin now (only an hour from Koen Kahn) and will go to Bangkok in a week.

I am here with my wife and children who are Thai nationals.

You should visit immigration a day or two before your permitted to stay expires and request extension of 7 days showing your tickets out. You will need current 4x6cm photos and 1,900 baht for each extension of stay. If immigration should say no you would still have time to make a border run to obtain a new 30 day stay. It is not advisable to overstay, even if for only two days, as your passport will be so marked and if a problem before you get to airport you could be jailed.

thanks lopburi3. It's not my intention to overstay as I want to return in the future. When you say, 'visit immigration', where is 'immigration'? Only Bangkok?

An immigration offices list is at the top of this forum. I beleive there is one in KhonKaen but not sure, maybe post in the Isaan forum for more accurate info.

Also you could (if you have transportation) go to the nearest boarder and get a new 30 days stamp.
