30d waiver on a METV.

Featured Replies

 Hi All,

I've entered TH via BKK yesterday with a METV valid until mid January 2019. I was stamped in without questions (my 3rd entry this year, previous stays for 6 weeks and 2 months respectively). Being jet lagged and generally miserable I did not check the stamp immediately... A few hours later I've found out that instead of a 2 month TR entry, I was given a 30 day waiver.

I am now wondering why is that? A common mistake - the IO did not notice the METV (even though it was on the page next to the one with the stamp) - or is there something more to it?

Just a common error.

You should take your passport to your local Immigration office to get the date amended in order to prevent a possible problem in the future.

One possibility - did you put the Visa Number on your TM-6 entry-form?  If not, that could be why they missed it.

Yes, I did. The form was filled in correctly, with a clearly spelled local address and all the other required information, including the visa #.

I try not to take any chances with the immigration, even though METVs are currently fairly safe, considering the time I spend in TH on an annual basis (4-6 months).

I'll visit the local immigration office in the next week or two and post an update.
