Taxi to korat
If time not a factor, three bus companies run hourly from Chattuchak to Korat. Cost around 250 baht. I can't confirm, but I think the new red line stops at Don Muang and Chattuchak station. -

How do US citizens get credit for PIT paid in Thailand
It looks to me like the Thai taxation of US Roth account distributions bears a strong resemblance to a viper pit. One could easily sustain several bites if not careful. My Roth accounts have been created from IRA conversions and as such have already been taxed. I assume since US has only secondary taxation rights (but at 0% rate) I should be able to claim a credit against future taxation by Thailand. On the surface that seems bass ackwards. I like @JimGant's approach that despite temporarily residing in IRA and then Roth accounts, the funds are (in my case, at least) comprised solely of pre 2024 income. -

Royal Navy Submarine Confronts Russian Spy Ship in UK Waters
I rather liked this story, had a touch of 'Red October' and cold war. It's time we collectively grow a pair and assertive ourselves. A nuke sub surfacing next to a spy ship, hope it scared the sh****t outta that crew Well done to the Royal Navy, hope we see a lot more of it -

Buying a new car.........you'd think it was easy
Just bought a new car - but not a Toyota and not an EV (as we have a specific need for our business that makes EV's impractical) and it was a simple and pleasant experience. Started at the Motorshow - great to be able to hop in and out of all the options in one day. Visited the dealers for the shortlist and arranged test drives. Line conversations followed - negotiating the best deal, offered a good discount, then took an extended test drive in the favourite model. Was able to choose the actual car from three in their warehouse (they told us the manufacturing date of each one). 3 days later, on an 'auspicious date' they had our car prepared with all extras added and up on a lift so I could inspect underneath. Flowers, bow, freebies, briefing on all the buttons and screens, then we were off for our first trip. But it was not a Toyota. I know Toyota have the best resale values in Thailand, but we keep our cars years and they have to travel to and on farms, so resale value is irrelevant to us. There's so much uncertainty in the market now, plus over-supply - so there's some great deals out there .... just not on a Toyota. -
