Convert tourist visa to non-o

Featured Replies

Hi

My Chinese wife is struggling to get a non-o visa to enable her to apply for a dependent visa in Thailand. I have a work permit and we have the required paperwork from the company I work for but it seems the process to obtain a non-o in China can take months.

So my question is can she come to Thailand on a tourist visa and convert it to non-o while she's here? Alternatively, can she get an extension of stay based on dependancy with a tourist visa?

Many thanks

John

If you are on an extension of stay based upon working for a company she can do a change of visa status to get a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry.

Edit: Requirements are her on immigration website (click Eng at the top of the page for english)

No. She could only get a 30 day extension for tourism.

She would need a non-immigrant visa to get an extension as your spouse (not dependant).
