Education minister stresses the importance of “rule of law”

BANGKOK, 8th December 2018 (NNT) – Education Minister Teerakiat Jareonsettasin has attended a conference with education related officials, stressing the importance of the “rule of law” when introducing policies. 

In his address to officials of provincial education offices, Minister Teerakiat said efforts to reform the Thai education system must be integrated at all levels, meaning local authorities must work with schools and educational institutions in their respective areas as well as district offices to improve Thai education by following the master educational reform plan. 

While doing so, he called on agencies to adhere to the rule of law, making sure the execution of their policies and projects is in line with standard practice and in the best interests of the public, adding that transparency is the strongest weapon against graft. 

He pointed out that educators must be role models for their students, helping them cultivate a sense of social responsibility and respect for laws and regulations.

Would that be the rich "rule of law" or the poor "rule of law"? I can't help but notice some are ABOVE the law!

And that would be those role models of corrupt directors who have had their hands in the till with false names on the school registers and cheating on funds for children's school meals. 

The Minister should be out there himself doing the rounds and educating the educators and threatening them with jail time if they practice corruption with school funding. Not just sitting on his freckle in the office and pumping out media statements to help the junta's election prospects. 

It is NOT the importance of the rule of law, mumble mumble censored. Its what does it mean to every individual in Thailand, what do they have to do as they have no clues you see it daily anywhere.

This comes from a minister that works for a junta that broke the law to rule this country at gunpoint.

And is he specifically meaning that teachers cannot use corporal punishment of any kind on their students because it's already against the law? 

An interesting comment from a minister who criticised Deputy Prime Minister Prawit over the luxury-watch scandal during a trip to Britain earler this year. Could this be his swan song?

Is this “Comedy Saturday”. A junta minister stressed the importance of rule of law and the junta PM asked to take a stance against corruption. This is better than SNL.

They do have this deep seated conditioning of speaking outta both sides, contradicting anything that might appear just or right.

The usual warm and fuzzy twisted rhetoric comes to mind. Used as a standard in most cases.

 

Let's see someone step up and start enforcing the laws

Thais talk and talk and talk. It's what most seem to be good at. It's all a stage performance for most of them. Nothing more. 

This from a man who is in charge of a Ministry already shown to be a haven of corruption and in charge of child beating teachers.
