One Year Visa Re Entry

Featured Replies

Since four years I'm staying from October to end of April in Thailand.

As I am working for a school I get a six month work permit and a six month work visa.

Unfortunately the labour office is not willing to grant that anymore (guess to much paper work for them).

They adviced me to get a one year work permit and one year visa. I would have to pay tax then for one year which i dont mind.

The schools employee who is responsible for the work permit seems not to be able to cope with it.

I would like to know if it is possible and allowed to leave Thailand for 6 month on a re entry permit and still keep the one year visa and work permit.

Thanks for any advice.

If you have a one year extension of stay (not a visa) you can obtain a re-entry permit and arrive back anytime before the permitted to stay stamp date. There is no restriction on that as long as the work permit remains active.

Thanks for the quick reply.

A few more questions.

Do I have to pay tax even I am not staying in Thailand for six month?

Does the school have to give a reason why I am allowed to stay away for six month?

Can the school get in trouble if they employ me for one year but I only work for 6 month for them?

Thanks a lot.
