Police offer Bt1 million for information leading to arrest of Saphan Kwai bomber

BANGKOK: -- The Royal Thai Police Monday offered Bt1 million to anyone who could provide information leading to an arrest of a man seen on security camera planting bomb at Saphan Kwai on New Year's Eve.

Pol Gen Patcharawat Wongsuwan, deputy police commissioner-general, held a meeting of police investigators in charge of Bangkok bombings and after the meeting, he played a footage of video captured on a security camera at the Saphan Kwai intersection.

The footage showed a man, appearing to be around 25 to 30 years old, walking toward a traffic police booth and dropped a box into the garbage bin at 4:53 pm.

The footage showed that a woman was injured when walking past the booth and the bomb exploded at 6 pm.

Patcharawat said the footage did not show any other person dropping anything into the garbage bin so the man, who hid his face in a cap, was the one who planted the bomb.

Patcharawat said police hoped the footage would be aired to the public so that persons who know the man could identify him to police.
